We had a wonderful week. It was warm, sunny and we enjoyed being on our Homestead in France. We left the renovations for a few days and wind down a bit after a nice cup of coffee in the morning.

Walking our street

We went for a walk around our property as with every season the surrounding changes and we want to see how summer is doing in our area. While farmers are busy with harvesting hay for storage, walking here with only a few french farmhouses around, no cars and just a handful of people, it sometimes feels like being in a game.

A game where you can explore and do quests and where you can build a lovely place with resources and material you find nearby. It’s sometimes is an unreal feeling to now suddenly live here in the countryside of France.

Sometimes we pause for a moment in working and renovating by doing nothing. Just looking around and listening to what nature has to say to us.

Picking cherry plums

We now see the many different fruit trees we have in our garden and one of them is the Cherryplum tree. The Prunus Cerasifera. I have never seen this kind of plume tree before and the ones here in the garden are overloaded with fruits.

After pollination by insects the flower develops into yellow or red cherry-like fruits. Its fruits can be eaten or used to make jam or wine. So maybe I will try to make a cherry plume wine one day! They are not fully ripen yet, but I could not wait any longer. I wanted to try to make a confiture out of it I started with the jell plumes.

Making confiture

And the confiture taste delicious on a slice of French brioche. I think they will be fully ripened within the next one or 2 weeks.
In the meantime we snack off the tree and sure will make more confiture too.
